AIKa R-16: Virgin Mission - OVA 3 eps

Summary: Sequel to Agent Aika. Aika is a smart and athletic high school girl. She is so competent that she successfully passes the salvager’s license test, obtaining a C-class license. Due to her hot headedness, no one is willing to hire her for salvaging jobs. Erika, a daughter of a rich family and the leader of the treasure hunting club asks Aika to salvage something from the sea and Aika delightfully accepts the request. However, upon seeing the state-of-the-art submarine loaded onto Erika`s private cruiser and discovering their destination, Aika realizes the terrible nature of her assignment. This results in a clash with a group of high school girls in the southern islands. Who is the mysterious girl named Karen? So begins Aika’s newest challenge…

Bokurano - ? eps

Summary: In a summer vacation, a group of 15 children discovered a mysterious man living in a seashore cave, along with his high-tech gadgets. The man claimed to be a game developer creating a video game with 15 giant robots defending Earth from alien invaders and asked those childs to test the game for him. The kids agreed happily at first, but soon they began to find the game horrifying, not only because of its realism but also for the first fatality among them happened right after their first victory. Worse yet, they had no idea how to stop or leave the "game."
My First Impressions: ep1 really doesn't tell you much more than the summary (actually even less). The fighting is lame, but the characters are varied and the art is decent enough. Definitely need more to see what direction it takes.

Claymore - ? eps

Summary: The setting of the story is a fictional world of abundant towns where humans coexist with demons called Yoma. These monsters feed on humans as their main source of food, hiding themselves in human society until they strike. Claymores willingly infuse themselves with demon flesh and blood to become powerful half-human hybrids. Villages in danger of attack hire warriors from the organisation for protection. he story of Claymore follows the adventures of the beautiful Claymore warrior Claire, who fights demons and struggles to hold on to her humanity.
My First Impressions: So far (after 4 eps), it's entertaining to some degree with the big sword and fighting, but it's something to watch when you have nothing else to watch imo. I'm hoping for some more development with Claire and at this point there is some, but it's slow and I'm not sure I'll stick with it long enough to find out what.

Darker than Black - 13? eps

Summary: In Tokyo, an impenetrable field known as "Hell's Gate" appeared ten years ago. At the same time, psychics who wield paranormal powers at the cost of their conscience also emerged. Hei is one of the most powerful of these psychic agents, and along with his blind associate, Yin, works for one of the many rival agencies vying to unlock the mysteries of Hell's Gate.
My First Impressions: After 3 eps, I'm still a bit confused as to what is going on... it still seems to have potential, I mean you have a bunch of people with super powers heh. However, the characters seem to lack depth imo. Not sure I'll watch more than another 1-2 eps unless it gets more interesting.

El Cazador de la Bruja - ? eps

Summary: El Cazador is the story of a girl named Ellis, who finds herself on the run from the so called Hunters of the underground society due to being a suspect of a murder. She meets up with a bounty hunter named Nadi who offers her help and guidance to pursue the truth of her past. But now she`s also being targetted by the Hunters and so their quest for the truth begins. [from anidb, ANN gives a bit more complete/specific summary]
My First Impressions: I don't really like it... Ellis is weird (though she's supposed to be) and boring. Nadi seems so gun wielding protector girl typical. The art is okay I guess, but the anime provides little reason for me to want to know about Ellis' past which is what the anime is based on.

(Kishin Taisen) Gigantic Formula - ? eps

Summary: The human race has recovered from the cataclysmic disaster now known as the "Equator Winter". Now, each country begins to battle one another with robots to establish the new world order. A 13-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl operate Japan`s robot. Now begins their robot battle.
My First Impressions: Boring kid mecha imo. The art is kinda meh too imo. The eyes scare me and the mecha don't look so great. But that's just me, dunno what other people might think.

Hayate no Gotoku! - ? eps

Summary: 16-year-old Hayate is really down on his luck. Because his unemployed parents are good-for-nothings who waste what money they have on gambling and have racked up such a huge gambling debt, they have sold Hayate to the yakuza for the value of his organs. In a desperate attempt to avoid that fate, Hayate decides to become a “bad guy” and kidnap someone to be held for ransom, but his efforts to do so are mistaken as a confession of love by the girl he targets. When he helps save the (as it turns out) ultra-wealthy 13-year-old Nagi from real kidnappers, she takes him in and gives him a job as her new personal butler (and love interest) until he can pay off his debt.
My First Impressions: It's kinda funny. Somehow it strikes me as semi-harem kind of mahoro style. The first ep was decent, so I'll keep watching. [update] The right amount of randomness for me (maybe too little for other people), but probably the pick of the season for me.

Summary: Answering the call of the “Gold Race”, all the sentient races launch into space. The human race is the last to launch, and are thus known as the “Iron Race”. Much time has passed since then, and humanity is threatened with extinction at the hands of the more dominant “Silver Race”. In order to save her people, Queen Deianeira sets out on a journey to a galaxy far away, following the prophecies of the Gold Race handed down by the royal family. Then, she meets a boy named Eiji. Their encounter will change the fate of the universe...
My First Impressions: The space fights seem kind of meh, art is decent, but doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Summary: Asai Mugi, a new student at Kumataka arts academy, has trouble speaking when she is confronted with her extreme stage fright. Forced to join the schools Drama Research Society by upperclassmen, she gradually changes due to the influence of drama.
My First Impressions: Honestly, the show seemed like a slow boring drama anime. I can't watch anymore...

Idol Master Xenoglossia - ? eps

Summary: The show centers around mecha and reimagines the ten prospective pop idols as fighter pilots of those robots, eight of them also posing as students.
My First Impressions: Mecha = meh, art is okay, characters are meh, I give this show a meh and unless someone tells me it's worth watching I'm stopping at ep1.

Kami-chama Karin - ? eps

Summary: Kamichama Karin is about a 7th grader named Karin Hanazono. Her parents and beloved cat, Shi-chan recently died, she`s getting horrible grades and is forced to live with her aunt. One day, Karin meets a young, orphaned, 7th grade boy named Kazune Kujyou, and discovers that her mother`s ring has the power to transform her into a goddess. She soon moves in with Kazune and his cousin Himeka. She and Kazune, who has godlike powers of his own, have to fight to protect Karin`s ring and Himeka from the evil intentions of Kirio Karasuma (whom Karin calls Mr. Glasses Man), who is also divine.
My First Impressions: It's cute, but also a tad odd with the magical guys. It's very much a cross between typical shoujo and magical girl. It's interesting so far, so I'll see how it continues. Art: good, characters: kind of stereotypical, plot: existant with potential to be good in fitting the genre. [update] I'm sticking with it for now as it's cute magical girl shoujo, but I've seen better things in this genre. The girl is a bit too dumb for me, so I might drop it at some point.
Note: based on the manga, in which the mangaka also made Pita-ten, Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar, and Digicharat.

Kaze no Stigma - ? eps

Summary: Ayano is the heir to the house of Kannagi, a house with ties to the spirit of fire whose members are all fire users. All except for her cousin, Kazuma. After he was defeated by Ayano, his father banish him from the house in disgrace. Kazuma runs off and changes his surname to Yagami. He forms a contract with the spirit of wind and becomes a powerful wind user. 4 years later, he returns. Some killings in the kannagi house by a powerful wind user lead Ayano and the Kannagi house into thinking Kazuma is taking revenge. Although claiming to be innocent, Kazuma is preparing for an all out war with Kannagi.
My First Impressions: It's interesting so far, but would definitely need more eps to see how it develops. The art isn't bad, the characters have potential to be in-depth especially the main character. The plot of ep 1-2 really only covers the summary so far.

Kissdum - ? eps

Summary: In A.D. 2031, humans are enjoying a prosperous existence until strange life forms called Hardians appear. They suddenly begin to multiply and assault the human population. As a countermeasure, mankind organizes the N.I.D.F. to investigate the Hardians and protect themselves.
A fighter pilot, Aiba Shu, begins to become involved in the battle against the lifeforms. Rurika Yuno, one of Earth`s foremost scientists, investigates the Hardians and hears rumors about the "Book of a Dead Man." What is the secret of this tome, and what relation does it have to the Hardians? Now, the fight for mankind`s survival begins.
My First Impressions: The pacing is actually kind of slow for an action type anime. It's okay so far. The art is average, the characters seem kind of stereotypical, and the story is as above. Ep 1-2 only really cover the summary so I'll have to see how it turns out.

Koutetsu Sangokushi - ? eps

Summary: [Summary based on ep1] The crimson warrior is a mysterious man who travels while fighting to protect innocent people caught up in the wars in the numberous countries. However, he himself has a past he doesn't know much about. When his master suddenly says that the warrior must start traveling alone, things begin to be revealed.
My First Impressions: Despite the action, I fell asleep... so I don't have any motivation to watch more unless someone recommends it.

Lovely Complex - ? eps

Summary: Risa and Otani are always being laughed at as the comedy duo. Risa, a girl, is taller than the average girl, and Otani, a boy, is shorter than the average boy. The two are always bickering and even their teacher sees them as a comedy act. But as their friendship develops, so does Risa`s feelings toward Otani.
My First Impressions: <read the manga, it was pretty good until it started dragging and I dropped it, so not watching unless highly recommended>

Lucky Star - 24 eps

Summary: Portrays the lives of several school girls attending a Japanese high school with a very loose humor tone. The main heroine is Konata Izumi, an athletic and intelligent girl who, despite these attributes, is not in a sports club, and her grades remain low. Her laziness at school is due to her love for anime and video games, and is not interested in much else.
My First Impressions: Lucky Star is a random cute anime. Sort of like Azumanga? maybe not... but anyway, the art is really good as it's KyoAni. I'm not a big fan of it as it's a bit random and the characters aren't as adorable to be as in Azu, except the Lucky Channel girl.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS - 26 eps
Groups: The-Triad, Yesy, Nanoha & DGz Subs
Summary: Set 10 years after Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A`s, Nanoha, Fate, Hayate and the rest of the crew are now working full time in the Time-Space Administration Bureau. Nanoha is a combat instructor, Fate is a special Investigator, and Hayate is a commanding officer. They must unite once again to save the dimensions with new characters.
My First Impressions: If you liked Nanoha and A's, StrikerS definitely looks similar except less pedo. The art in the 1st ep was at least consistently decent. Hopefully it doesn't degrade like in Nanoha and especially in A's. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Monster Princess - ? eps

Summary: After receiving his sister’s letter of invitation, Hiyomi Hiro goes to the house indicated on the map, but finds it abandoned. Its gate is locked and the windows are boarded up. Back in town, he finds a cart loaded with a pile of furniture. Then, an iron pillar of a building under construction falls. Hiro protects the girl but is crushed under the pillar. He is sent to a hospital, but there is nothing they can do for him and he passes away. Suddenly, the girl appears in front of his body in the mortuary. She then says these strange words to Hiro: “This is a good body.” The girl stands and holds her index finger up over his body. Then, fireballs gather around her finger. They drop onto the white cloth covering his face, and a heat haze appears around his body…
My First Impressions: <I wasn't so into the manga, so unless recommended, not watching.>

Murder Princess - OVA 6 eps

Summary: In the 4th of Month of Jade, Cyndina Era 672, a coup d’etat broke out in Foreland. To escape the assault, Princess Arita fled the castle. While fleeing, she came upon a woman drawing her sword. The woman, Pharis, was the strongest bounty hunter in history. As Arita tried to ask Pharis for help, she bumped into her and they fell off a cliff. When they landed on the ground, their souls had been exchanged. Arita begs Pharis (now in Arita's body) to protect the country and Pharis agrees. So, the strongest and most cruel princess in history is born: Murder Princess.
My First Impressions: The first ep pretty much covers the summary. The art isn't bad, though the characters have little depth, the anime is amusing and seems to be developing a plot of some sort. Since it's only 6 eps I'll likely watch it all.

Summary: Ikuto Touhohin just had a fight with his old man, one that led him to make a rash decision to run away from home. He boards a ship, deciding to take a vacation, but the ship is suddenly hit by a huge storm - one that sends Ikuto overboard! When he regains consciousness, he realizes he is still alive… on some island. An isolated island with nothing but beautiful girls.

Ookiku Furikabutte - ? eps

Summary: The series, set in Saitama, follows Ren Mihashi, who had previously excelled as his middle school baseball team`s ace pitcher, due to his grandfather`s connections as its manager. As he graduates to high school, whose baseball team his grandfather does not manage, he initially does not believe he is good enough to succeed at baseball, however, but assisted by his friends, he grows in stature, confidence and skill, helping his team excel with his own ability.

Summary: Unfortunately, despite being a high school student, Shinozaki Mikoto doesn`t know how to ride a bike. With no real idea of what the bicycle club is, he earnestly practices. After he overcomes this challenge, while he pedals along, something that was smoldering in his mind for 15 years ignites. "I want to devote myself to bike riding." Experiencing failure with his friends and rivals, he pedals towards becoming the top racer.
My First Impressions: Seems like a boring sports-like anime. Not watching more unless recommended.

She is chosen as one of the crews of the first Japanese manned spaceship only because she is little and light. Where is her future going to?

Romeo x Juliet - ? eps

Summary: This is a story of a young and tragic love, set in the aerial city of Neo Verona. Tyranny rules this island in the sky after the Montague family took control 14 years prior. The disparity among the wealthy and poor is apparent in the present state, the earth dries and water stagnates. The sky itself is wrapped in a deep dense fog. Both Romeo and Juliet's lineages are of present and past ruling families of Neo Verona. Romeo is the son of the current Montague dictator, Juliet (a beautiful woman) masquerades as a man (Odin), she's the last descendent of Capulet the previous rulers who were killed by an assasin's dagger 14 years ago. Her true background is not to be revealed to her until her 16th birthday while being raised by her sister. The cruel hands of fate introduces 2 people who will become "Star Crossed Lovers".
My First Impressions: Although the art isn't that great, it's obviously different from the original. So actually, I'm interested in seeing more. [update] So far I like it. I'm typically against watching any remake of R&J after seeing so many versions, but I really like this one so far. Although based on the play, some elements are distinctly different which changes the story. Only at ep3 so we'll see, but I think I'll be keeping this one.

Saint Beast - Kouin Jojishi Tenshi Tan - ? eps

Summary: A long time ago, Zeus, the great god, created a three–tier hierarchy of angels, top, middle and lower, although they were supposed to be equal. Also, Zeus appointed 6 angels as Saint Beasts who govern the animals of Earth. They were: Go, the seiyu; Shin, the genbu; Rei, the suzaku; Guy, the byakko; Yuda, the kirin; and Ruka, the hooh. However, Kira, the shooting star, and Maya, the fuga, didn’t attend the selection tests and left for the Earth. The six angels fulfilled their tasks faithfully. However, because of Zeus’s increasingly tyrannical acts, they begin to mistrust him.

Sakura Wars: New York - OVA 6 eps

Summary: New York City, the late 1920s. The battle with Nobunaga is over, the city restored to peace...until the owner of Little Lip Theater informs Shinjiro... "This time, the leading lady will be...you." Thus Shinjiro, disguised as the actress Petitmint, is forced into the role of "Cleopatra." The Star Division members set out to persuade a reluctant Shinjiro, beginning a chase across the five boroughs. Meanwhile, a dark-skinned youth and his servant have appeared unexpectedly in the midst of the flourishing city. His eyes, concealing a silent wrath, are fixed upon nothing less than the Statue of Liberty. Now Shinjiro and company must protect this city of hopes and dreams from a new menace while safely raising the curtain on a new show.

Seirei no Moribito - 26 eps

Summary: Once every 100 years, a Water Fairy implants an egg into a person who then becomes the Guardian of Fairies. This time, the responsibility falls on Chagumu, the second prince of the New Yogo Kingdom. Chagumu`s life isn`t easy. The king finds Chagumu an inconvenience and attempts to have him killed. As a result, the queen asks a female guard, Balsa, to protect Chagumu. In addition to this, beings from another world, known as Nayugu, constantly attack him in order to eat the egg carried in Chagumu`s body.
My First Impressions: ep1 was okay I guess. Art is okay, characters seem to have a story behind them. It's more of an introductory ep though, none of the supernatural stuff has really entered yet. [update] So far it's still okay. I'm watching it since the plot moves along at least, but it's really a being hunted type anime, so as long as it doesn't drag it should be a decent anime at least.

Seto no Hanayome - ? eps

Summary: Nagasumi visits his grandmother near the sea during the summer. While visiting, he goes for a swim, and drowns right after entering the water. Fortunately for him he is saved by a young mermaid. Later as he tells the story to his family, a young girl named San appears at his home and begs Nagasumi to marry her. Nagasumi is left with the choice of either death or marrying San. He chooses to marry a mermaid. The only problem is that San`s father and some members of the mob are not exactly thrilled to have Nagasumi courting San and are determined to bring an end to their relationship--or him.
My First Impressions: I think I would definitely like this in manga format. The animation is average quality and so are the characters, just pacing isn't quite right somehow.

Shining Tears X Wind - ? eps

Summary: There have been several mysterious cases of disappearances in Tatsumi Town. No one has any explanation. One day, at St. Ruminus Academy, even Saionji (student council president?) and Kureha (his girlfriend?) disappear. All that is left behind is a book about "End Earth" the dream continent. Just when Souma (another student council member) is confessing his love for Kureha, a weird wolfman and catgirl(?) appear fighting. The catgirl, Mao, claims to come from End Earth looking for Zero, a man with black and white wings with a ring on each hand.
My First Impressions: There's a bit more that happens in ep1. It's kind of interesting so far. Seems to be based on a SEGA game or something (with sega's name appearing all over the place in the credits). It has potential imo although I'm not too fond of the characters. [update] After 4 eps, I like it so far as it moves along and things are changing around. Things are getting more interesting, so I'm hoping for something here.

Sisters of Wellber - ? eps

Summary: Since the war 10 years ago between Wellber and Sangatrus ended, Wellber has maintained its peace. The simmering tensions between the two countries mean that a second war could start at any moment despite efforts to avert it. The King of Wellber, Hidel, tries to resolve the issue by marrying his daughter, Princess Litta, to Prince Gernia of Sangatrus. Litta does not approve and runs away, injuring Gernia in the process. This angers King Lumbanog of Sangatrus, who announces that he will initiate war unless Litta is captured and publicly executed within the next 14 days. As a result, Litta flees to the neutral country of Greedum. Tina, a thief who snuck into the castle the same night Princess Litta attacked Prince Gernia, witnessed the whole thing. Tina is searching for the man who killed her parents and, strangely enough, learns that he was living in Greedum. She comes to be Litta’s guard while they both head to Greedum.
My First Impressions: Not bad for a ep1. Would definitely have to see more to see whether it's a keeper. There are a couple of really weird elements and I actually don't like the fact that she might've actually killed the prince.

Sola - 13 eps

Summary: Collaboration project from the writer of Kanon and Da Capo. <I don't know what's going on beyond: There's a guy who obsessed with the sky (and taking photographs of it) surrounded by girls. There's a faithful meeting between him and this mysterious girl. There's also hinting at supernatural stuff which isn't surprising.>
My First Impressions: I think it's definitely worth watching a couple more eps to see how it goes. The art isn't great, but I think I've been spoiled by KyoAni with the Air and the new Kanon. I wish they had somehow convinced KyoAni to do it, as I think the animation would've turned out really really really nice. Anyway, the characters are okay so far. It definitely has potential. They try to introduce all the characters in ep1 from the looks of it, so at least it won't drag out character introduction like in DC. I hope they don't drag the story, but they shouldn't with only 13 eps. [update] So it's turned into a bit of slow paced DC-type shoujo-ish anime now... which is not what I was hoping for after ep1-2. If it doesn't pick up in another 1-2 eps (as it's already at ep4/13), I may stop watching.

Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann - 26 eps

Summary: In the distant future, people build their homes and raise domestic animals in subterranean caverns. As a result, they live in fear of the occasional earthquake and cave-in, and have been for hundreds of years. Jeeha is one such village. One day, a boy named Simon happens to find a small, shiny drill whilst digging to expand the village. At the same time, Kamina, a guy who believes that there is another land above the village, persuades a gangster to break through the ceiling in order to leave the cavern. Suddenly, an earthquake occurs and the ceiling collapses, followed by a big robot breaking through the ceiling.
My First Impressions: <not watching - took one look at the ad poster and thought "no">

Summary: In the far future, humanity has left behind an environmentally destroyed Terra and began colonization in order to reproduce their home. Humanity, now ruled by a super computer that controls the birth of children, sees the emergence of a new race called the "Mu". The Mu, now hidden from the rest of humanity, have one dream, to return home, to Terra...
My First Impressions: It's actually not a bad anime. The only problem is that it drags at the wrong times. First ep was decent, 2nd ep was just the main char whining, 3rd ep was mostly main char whining and finding problems then when it gets interesting again it's the end of the ep. I likely won't continue this unless recommended to.

My First Impressions: This anime makes me really go WTF? in the I have no idea what's going on way... it seems very big breasted women ecchi yuri undertoned game anime or something. I have no intention of continuing this anime.. someone tell me if it's worth watching later c.c;;

Winter Cicada - OVA 3 eps

Summary: (WARNING: Shounen Ai/possibly Yaoi) It is the Bakamatsu and early Meiji Period. Akizuki Keiichirou and Kusaka Touma stand of opposite sides of the political scale of the time but still, something as fragile as the shell of a cicada binds these two men together in a tragic and cruel fate. A story of friendship, love and seperation as well as reunion and sacrifice.
My First Impressions: eh, I watched only a few minutes and got bored. The art is meh and it's a typical love torn couple on either side of the war except it's a man-man couple. Boring....
